Dear Friends,

Jubileo greetings in Jesus from Panamá, celebrating 50 years of the Assemblies of God in the beautiful Republic of Panamá! We missionaries (pictured at the anniversary banquet) joined with thousands of Panamanians across the country to celebrate the great things God has done.

If you'd prefer you can read this e-Mailer online, or see past issues on "Newsletter" page at jonesjournal.org. This monthly e-Mailer includes updates on our life, ministry, praise, and prayer.

If it looks like we were having fun here, it’s true! Rev. Ruth Steele, Christian Education director, invited us to teach strategies and ideas for evangelistic campaigns and crusades for kids ministry leaders at the national campground. Some of the principles we shared: a bored kid doesn’t learn. So stimulate creativity and increase transformational learning. Also, consider the perspective of the child in the last row. What is he or she seeing and experiencing? Results in the slogan: make everything BIG. We put these principles to practice with memory verse game competition, hands-on gospel illusions, and even earning prizes for good behavior. Teach by example. Their enthusiasm to reach and train kids inspires us. We will be sharing the same topic as the plenary session for the regional teacher training later this month of July.

In our monthly kidmin training seminars we are providing PowerMark comics and curriculum for the teachers. The attractive and engaging design of the comics capture kids’ interest and the thorough Christian education curriculum helps young seekers grow closer to the Lord!

The Metro Amigos home received big help last month from Panamá International Church, also known as PAINT Church. Our pastor and missionary colleague Nelson Lugo and I are pictured here in the just completed conference room with brand new ceiling tile installed. Thanks to Pastor Nelson and PAINT Church for providing materials and volunteer labor! Now we keep praying for God to bring in more mentors to love on these precious kids from hard places.

Pastor Roy Rhodes and wonderful team from Abundant Life Community Church in Alton, IL are long-term friends of Panamá. They continued their ongoing work at the LACC/Childhope School in Soloy constructing sanitary bathroom facilities, painting inside and out, and loving on the ever-present kids (even though school was out all week). Due to a minor delay in our immigration process we were not able to travel with them. So we sent Tony. He was the primary translator. After the week was over, the team said they prefer him anyway! We understand.

Update: the good news is that our immigration process is underway once again and we are trusting the Lord for permanent residency status very soon.

Grace & Chloe are finishing up working the Missionary Kid summer program in Springfield, MO. Chloe is “Nurse Band-Aid” again and Grace is caring for nursery/toddler age children. Celina is writing the proposal for her PhD thesis project.

Upcoming this month of July: two more terrific teams! Lakewood CA Life Center Church will be working with an LACC/ChildHope School in Panamá City and Aguadulce. River of Life Assembly from Hood River OR will minister with Lirio de Los Valles church in Boquete.

Before closing, we invite you to join us in prayer for our beloved Jefe (“Boss”) Rev. Lowell David, pictured here with founding missionary Rev. David Godwin at the Jubilee Anniversary Banquet as they related God’s mighty deeds. Brother Lowell is the only Panamanian Superintendent the Assemblies of God has ever known here. He has need of physical healing in his lungs and leg. Thank you for praying with all of us!

The Year of the Lord's Favor

1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me,

because the Lord has anointed me

to bring good news to the poor;

he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,

to proclaim liberty to the captives,

and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

2 to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor,

and the day of vengeance of our God;

to comfort all who mourn;

3 to grant to those who mourn in Zion—

to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes,

the oil of gladness instead of mourning,

the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit;

that they may be called oaks of righteousness,

the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified.

Isaiah 61:1-3 (ESV)

Yours for Them,

Kirk & Yvonne
